We're heading into the bulk of the training season and of course today Jaeger is limping. I rushed him off to the vet to hear the dreaded words "Possible partial tear to his cruciate ligament." A canine athletes worst nightmare and a possible career ender. The injury can cause severe debilitation and the surgeries for repair are expensive running from $3000 - $5000. To make matters worse a dog who goes through one cruciate tear often tears the other one and the owner ends up having to go through two surgeries. Along with the surgeries go the months of rehab and the exhaustive work of keeping the dog in a sedentary resting state so proper healing can occur.

I'm worried for my little guy who loves retrieving more than anything in the whole world. 3 years old is an early age to end a career.
